PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY – APRIL 2022

24 APRIL 2022

Performance of the Day – You Ready Boots & Tracey & Lisa Craik.

With You Ready Boots reeling off a PB of `18.29secs., she shares the honours with her training partnership. Tracey and Lisa who matched last week’s six wins.
The members of their two talented young litters are complimenting the deeds of their established sprinters.

Bouquet of the Day – SIR YENS & KAY HERBERT.

Evergreen trainer Kay Herbert had just one runner on today’s programme and patiently waited until the last race to see veteran sprinter Sir Yens make his way to the boxes. After a clean beginning, he trailed the pace making Al’s Witch in the early stages of the race before powering through the bend to be victorious over his younger rivals, including runner up Minerva Mink who is nearly 3 years his junior.
Although just 2 months away from his 5th birthday he has had just 49 career starts due to spells on the sideline forced by injury. Despite a promising 4th at his last start, he returned a $44 winning dividend.
The popular win was a just reward for the patience and care she gives to her small team.
Well done Kay.

16 APRIL 2022

Performance of the Day – Up Your Quota.

His all the way four length victory in the BOD time of 18.34secs., equalled this season’s fastest time for a C4 assessed chaser. His time shared with Zipping Hewitt’s 10th October performance.
He is a member of the successful Kilty Lad – Botany Downs litter, headed by the open class sprinter Calf King. They have now won 34 races and stake money of more than $60k.
Botany Downs was also capable of running a slick 318m, with a PB of 18.31secs., recorded in July 2014, when she defeated the ‘Queen of Manukau’ Bright Star by a narrow margin in a tight finish.
Congratulations to his trainer Phil Green, owner Eddie Wright and handler Ethan Toomer, who is ever present on the track with Phil’s team.

10 APRIL 2022

Performance of the Day –   WHEELS ON FIRE.

A lightning beginning and a display of sheer pace saw him flash past the first sectional mark in a brilliant 4.46secs. The display continued, leading his littermate You Ready Boots to the finish line in a very fast overall 18.18secs.
This performance plus his win in a heat of the Angus Wright Memorial Sprint on Thursday at Cambridge signals that he is back to his breath taking best. Earlier this season he recorded an eight race winning streak over the 318m trip.
Congratulations to trainers Tracey and Lisa Craik and his ownership group.

3rd APRIL 2022

Performance of the Day –  BLACK TEA.

Running a 527m BOD time of 30.48secs. Black Tea takes the honours.
Coming back from a three month spell, she had two sprint runs prior to yesterday’s win a testament to the planning and training efforts of the Mullane/Potts partnership.
Black Tea, whelped in March 2020, is daughter of 2014 Melbourne Cup winner Dyna Villa and Mandy Junior, who was the winner of 8 races during her career on the track. She is also a great grand-daughter of our 527m track record holder Winsome Ashley. Already with two sub 30.50secs wins, she certainly has her fair share of the direct dam line’s ability.
Owner Daryl McLachlan hosted a number of staff from his I Pave Concrete team and the track yesterday. The win adding to a very enjoyable afternoon for them.
Staff members; Fifty, Trevor, Gavin and Tuhoe joined co-trainer Emma Potts at the dais for the winner’s photograph.
