J.R.’s Club Comment & Sunday Selections

23 February 2025

We return to Manukau this Sunday with  an eleven race card, commencing at 12.45pm  , and the last is away on its journey at 4.45pm.

The Lantern festival was certainly a large event and takes a mountain of organising , but it is complete for another year. The Polyfest is right behind and is another huge event that impacts on our facility.

Keep an eye out for alterations to trial dates and race scheduling between Cambridge and Manukau. As usual, we will supply that info as soon as possible and in the clearest format. The one fortunate thing about these events, is they use the same security firm as we do, which helps considerably.

The hot , dry weather is still around , but forecast suggests not so warm Sunday, which would be great.

The fields look even on paper , so there may be some value to be found and it is very much required. Here is our fancies.

R1 No2 Chance to Shine , going for a hattrick of wins, can achieve that. No8 Bigtime Sticker is a danger.

R2 No5 Sakura. Heavily supported Thursday and checked out of race. Keep the faith here. No3 Epic in Trouble can be in the money.

R3 No4 Bear O’clock can be very tough to beat here.No2 Affectionately , new comer here , could go close.

R4 No3 Gone Walkabout , another who found trouble Thursday. Previous winner here.No6 Thrilling Muse , lining up a hattrick, can achieve it.

R5 No2 Highview Spot. Scored on downgrade Thursday and can repeat the dose. No5 Big time Hinda. Very fresh and can go boldly in that state.

R6 No2 Big time Funk. Long time since he scored , but this might be his chance. No8 Sweetwater Oak , another newcomer here and  can place.

R7 No3 You Pick One is racing nicely at present. No2 Stop Working is in same category.

R8 No6 Apache Blyde can go very close today. No2 Papa Kiwi is dangerous here.

R9 No3 Unique Sunrise looks well placed today. No6 Schmeichel has placed twice against better opposition of late , but just can not get that inside draw that he wants.

R10. No8 Wild Pansy was tidy in winning last start. No2 Just one Grin is fresh but has an 18.16 winning time around Manukau.

R11 No5 Thrilling Wilma, very nice in winning last start. Good bet. No3 Shadowed  is going for  four in a row and can be right there.
